The main work of the media is to be a bridge between the common man and the government. The government plans policies for the people and implements them, but even if the policies are good, their implementation can be faulty. If the government fails to take the benefits of the policies to the masses, then the media is expected to point out the shortcomings in a responsible way. It is appreciable that the Sakal Media Group has given people the platform of ‘Maharashtra’s Expectations’. The media should not limit itself to just stating the expectations of the citizens. This initiative will be of use if the media can make the government take certain steps. To put the necessary pressure on the government for a good reason is not wrong. With this initiative of Sakal Media Group, the government and the elected representatives will get a fair idea about the expectations of the masses which can help them implement the desired policies. The expectations will be fulfilled and this initiative will be a success, if these expectations are reflected in the policies.
