Manoj Bajpayee signs Abhishek Chaubey’s next
The two time national award winner will now be working with Udta Punjab’s director Abhishek Chaubey in his next film. This movie is set in the ‘70s and revolves around Chambal dacoits. According to sources, Manoj Bajpayee is going to play an important role of a dacoit in the film. The project, produced by Ronnie Screwvala Production, also features Sushant Singh Rajput and Bhumi Pednekar in the lead roles.
“The shoot of the film is expected to start from February and one hears that Manoj is working on getting the Bundelkhandi dialect right for the film,” adds the source.
Confirming the news, Manoj said, “Yes, that’s true though we are yet to zero in on a name for my character. I always wanted to work with Abhishek as I’m a huge admirer of his work. I have seen all his films, from Ishqiya and Dedh Ishqiya to Udta Punjab. He picks his stories from rural or semi-urban areas and weaves them beautifully. When I got a chance to be a part of his story-telling, I couldn’t turn it down. For me this film is not so much about the role, as it is about working with Abhishek Chaubey.”
Manoj is presently filming Bhonsle in Mumbai, which revolves around the story for a retired head constable. “Manoj was waiting for a producer to come on board and now that it is in place, he is shooting round the clock for the film. He will also simultaneously shoot for Sajid Nadiadwala’s Baaghi 2 in December,” adds the source.
