TANISHKA CELEBRATES WOMEN’S DAY, TAKES AN INITIATIVE TO TACKLE THE PROBLEM OF WATER SCARCITY.

Nimgaon Ketki: Generations have fought against water scarcity which is a never ending problem. With many parts of Maharashtra still reeling under drought, the State Government has launched a campaign to address this problem on a permanent basis. The Government along with Media Groups like Sakal have taken cogent steps to address this issue once and for all. The ambitious programme aimed at making the state scarcity-free in five years will involve construction for a series of check dams, rejuvenation of old dams and repairs of KT weirs and storage tanks. The villagers along with Tanishka Members from Vyahali resolved to dedicate themselves to Jalyukt Shivar programme at a Bhairavnath Temple in Vyahali, Taluka:

Divisional Officer Dr. L. B. Vadapure, Sarpanch Shakuntala More, Talathi Vankhede, Gramsevak Archana Lonkar, President of Vikas Society Dattatray Gole, Grampanchayat Member Pritam Pawar, Ex. Sarapanch Raghunath Baride, President of Indapur Rotary Club Dr. Sandesh Shah, Dr. Radhika Shah were present during the meeting held on the occasion of Women’s Day where the resolution was made.
Dr. Vadapure said, “From this initiative, Rs. Five Lakh will be funded for the repair and restoration of percolation tanks. The Government will grant a subsidy of Rs. 28.39 per litre of diesel to the farmers who will help in cleaning waste material and mud from different water reservoirs.
Tanishka Members Manisha Gurav, Megha Gudhate, Swapnali Aatole and Vimal Mahajan shared their concerns about water scarcity in the rural region and took an oath to make the Jalyukta Shivar project a success by creating public awareness and fostering public participation. Ex Sarapanch Raghunath Baride and Sunil Pawar said that “Vyahali was known as the most productive village in agriculture in the whole Taluka 25 years ago. We are proud to see it getting restored it to its former glory.”
