BELIEVE IN YOUR DREAMS, BE THE CHANGE, SAYS AAMIR KHAN
11:01 pm UTC

MUMBAI: The Chief Inspirator of Young Inspirators Network (YIN) initiative of Delivering Change Foundation, Aamir Khan has urged the youth to believe in their dreams and be the change.

Interacting with over 200 young inspirators who are students from various colleges in Pune and Mumbai, Aamir said he strongly believes that change is possible.

He said that his television show, Satyamev Jayate has given him the confidence that change is possible and that people are ready for change.

Aamir was interviewed by Vikram Sathaye on the first day of the training session for YIN members. Founder and Chairman of DCF Abhijit Pawar was present during the interview.

“The helpline for children, which usually gets 35,000 calls on an average, got 40 lakh calls after the episodes of Satyamev Jayate. In fact, after the female foeticide episode on Satyamev Jayate, the Maharashtra government swung into action to stop it. These are examples that change is possible. You need to do what gives you pleasure and chase your dreams,” said Aamir.

Narrating his journey from films to a television show like Satyamev Jayate, he said that the feeling to do something about the problems plaguing the society grew within him over the years, which culminated in the launching of Satyamev Jayate.

He was inspired by his friend Satyajit Bhatkar who although being a genius in academics, took to social work.

“I have always believed in doing what makes me happy and I never compromised on it,” he told the attentive audience.

He cited examples of villages which had overcome their problems by standing together and deciding unanimously.

Aamir patiently answered youngsters who put forth a wide range of questions. He inspired them to fight back if they are wrongly treated, face testing times bravely and they would emerge as winners, he believed.

He also urged the youth to travel all over the country to grow as a person.

TWO LESSONS LEARNT BY AAMIR
Elaborating on the lessons he learnt, popular actor Aamir Khan said that the most hard-hitting lessons were, ‘Treat everyone equally, respect women and treat them as equals’ and ‘Prosperity could be achieved only by working as a team with a broader perspective, than by keeping only self gain in mind.’
